java – JSP does not render png

Question:

there is code in JSP:

<img src="../icons/directory.png" alt="">

PNG images are not displayed. He pointed out different paths, none of them worked. Tried "/icons/directory.png" alt="">" and without the first slash. Through url localhost / views / main.jsp sees jsp files, opens them. When I try to open any png file, it redirects to the main servlet. Not I understand what could be the problem?

Answer:

web.xml should look like this:

<web-app xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
         version="2.4" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
         xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee
    http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd">

    <display-name>Spring MVC Application</display-name>

    <servlet>
        <servlet-name>mvc-dispatcher</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>org.springframework.web.servlet.DispatcherServlet</servlet-class>
        <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>
    <session-config>
        <session-timeout>
            30
        </session-timeout>
    </session-config>

    <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>mvc-dispatcher</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/</url-pattern>
